Petey’s Bark Hour

June 2024

Hey Gang, It is very hot outside, but I still see a lot of dogs outside running or walking fast with their dogs. Lately it has been really hot. Mom says it has been in the 100’s. Dogs get hot too, and it can hurt their health for them to be out in the heat exercising. Staying outside all day or for a long time can also make dogs get overheated. Dogs can have heat strokes just like humans can. They can become deydrated too. Please be careful when taking your dogs outside on the very hot days. I know that I get very hot fast, and I like to come back in right after I potty until the evening time when it gets a little cooler. Then I like to go run and play if it does not feel as hot. I still think dogs need to be outside a lot, and I know because I am a dog. That’s why I started Petey’s Pup Rides. I started it so that we could help make sure our friends are getting enough outdoor time, playtime, and time playing with friends. I know how important all of this is because I am a dog myself.

Hey Gang, I see a lot of trash all over our pretty land and in the water. This makes me very sad. Please remember the animals like me and the birds. Sometimes animals get hurt on glass, metal things, or other stuff thrown on the ground. Turtles and birds get caught up in strings and bags. They can not call for help, and no human is there to help them like would be if you got hurt. When wild animals get hurt outside, they just suffer. Please throw your trash away. If you walk by some trash, please help the animals, wildlife, and land by picking it up.

If you have a story about how you help keep our land clean and our animals and wild creatures safe, please share it with me.

Your Questions…

Hey Gang, We get a lot of questions from humans, like: “What do you do?” “What is a field trip?” “Do you take pups on rides?” “Do you take people on rides too?” I wanted to answer.

Our Petey’s Field Trips© are like what you did when you were a kid in school. Well, I wanted pups to enjoy that too. After all, we are a lot like kids. We like to run. We like to be outside. We like to dig. We like to play with our friends. We sometimes scream. We sometimes break things. We listen best when we are offered treats or rewards, and sometimes do not listen at all. We do silly stuff when we get bored, and we sometimes get into trouble. We also love ice cream!!

Krista says: A Field Trip includes a private, two or four hour field trip tailored to your pup’s needs with direct pick up and return for your pup(s). Our pups drink only distilled water and eat the finest treats.

Some pups are older so they want to take a nice ride, followed by a slow stroll on the beach or boardwalk. Other pups have a lot of energy like me, so they may want me or another pup along to play and run with or they may want to run alone at an open/fenced field or big yard, they may ride a little less, and exercise a lot. Other pups may need to learn to be more relaxed and better around other pups and people, so they may take a walk around downtown Surfside Beach, Morse Park, or visit Home Depot Garden Center, a smaller pet store, or somewhere with people and pups, but not too busy. Most of our friends just go out for a fun day made just for them.

Some of the places we go to are: Sanford D Cox Park, Morse Park, Wachesaw Park, Martin Field Waterfront Park, Memorial Park, the Marshwalk, the beaches of Surfside and Garden City, the pet stores, Home Depot Garden Center, Benjamin’s Bakery, Stella’s Ice cream, Meyer’s Ice Cream, and Chik Fil A, Murrells Inlet. We also visit some of the local markets, and a lot of other places.

We always stop for healthy snacks and plenty of water.

It does not matter if you have a golf cart or car. The point is to give your special pup a special day for him or her. This also gives you parents a break.

Some pups go out on our Petey’s Rides© or Petey’s Ride and Walks©. Those are easy to figure out, right?

We also take kids out for fun. I love this because I love kids!! This is our Petey’s Rides for Kids©. We have Petey’s Camps for Kids© and Petey’s Field Trips for Kids© too!! Be sure to watch for our Petey’s Summer Camps for Kids© coming up in June. They get to hang out with me, and they get to have tons of fun!! I always welcome kids of all abilities.

Krista says to be sure to tell you that we offer drop-in visits for pups, pup daycare, private boarding, training, and more.

Mom, Krista, and Karen are working on my website to make it even prettier. They are also upgrading the booking. For now, Krista says that you can book at: https://peteyspuprides.com/book-services/
You can also call in, email, DM/PM, or text “book” to us.

I hope this helps, and I hope to meet you soon.

Look at how much fun I had on my birthday, March 24, at the Cars 4 Paws Fundraiser in March, and with Rudolph and the humans at the Holiday Market in Murrells Inlet, SC. Oh, you can also see Krista and Karola at the Walter’s On The Patio All 4 Paws fundraiser. I always like helping other pups.
